Selective removal PRO

Uncheck a category to keep it. Applies to "Clean" actions below.
What this tool checks: EXIF/GPS, XMP, IPTC/Photoshop blocks, JPEG comments, PNG text chunks, WebP EXIF/XMP, and C2PA manifest containers (APP11/JUMBF in JPEG, the caBX chunk in PNG).

Verification: after cleaning, the file is re-scanned to confirm no targeted metadata blocks remain, and a SHA-256 hash of the decoded pixel data is compared before/after so you can see the image content itself was never touched.

Important: removing embedded provenance data does not guarantee a platform will remove an AI-content label — platforms may use other signals. Selective removal (Pro) works at the metadata-block level, since individual fields inside a block are not parsed out.

How This Metadata Remover Works

Everything happens on your device. The tool reads each file's raw bytes, walks its JPEG/PNG/WebP container structure to find metadata segments, removes the ones you've chosen to strip, and rebuilds the file — without decoding or re-compressing the actual image data. Nothing is ever uploaded to a server.

1. Scan

Every dropped file is parsed locally to find EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC/Photoshop, JPEG comments, PNG text chunks and C2PA manifest containers, and flags any detected AI-generator signatures.

2. Clean

Matching metadata segments are removed at the binary level. The compressed image data itself is left untouched, so there's no quality loss from re-encoding.

3. Verify

The cleaned file is re-scanned to confirm zero targeted metadata blocks remain, and a SHA-256 hash of the decoded pixel data is compared against the original so you have proof — not just a promise — that only metadata changed.

What Makes This Different From Other EXIF Removers

Most free online metadata tools stop at basic EXIF and GPS removal, and ask you to just trust that the cleaning worked. This one goes further:

Cryptographic clean-proof

A SHA-256 hash of the decoded pixel data is compared before and after cleaning, so you get mathematical proof the image content wasn't altered — not just a claim.

Post-clean re-verification

The tool automatically re-scans its own output and reports exactly how many metadata blocks remain, instead of assuming success.

AI generator fingerprinting

Detects signatures left behind by Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, Adobe Firefly and other generators before you decide what to remove.

True C2PA support

Removes C2PA Content Credentials manifests embedded via APP11/JUMBF (JPEG) and the caBX chunk (PNG) — not just legacy EXIF fields.

Selective, category-level removal

Pro users can keep specific metadata categories (like copyright) while stripping others (like GPS), instead of an all-or-nothing wipe.

Zero upload, zero account

Every operation — scanning, cleaning, hashing — runs in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this tool upload my photos anywhere?

No. Every scan and cleaning operation runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your images are never sent to a server.

Can it remove C2PA Content Credentials, not just EXIF?

Yes. It detects and removes C2PA manifest containers embedded via APP11/JUMBF segments in JPEG and the caBX chunk in PNG, alongside standard EXIF, GPS, XMP and IPTC/Photoshop metadata.

How do I know the removal actually worked?

After cleaning, the tool re-scans the output file and reports how many metadata blocks remain, and computes a SHA-256 hash of the decoded pixel data before and after so you can see the image content itself was never altered.

Which image formats are supported?

JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP are supported for both scanning and cleaning.

Will this tell me which AI tool generated an image?

If the file still carries generator metadata, the tool checks for known signatures from tools such as Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, Adobe Firefly and Leonardo AI, and flags a likely match before you clean the file.
